Starting work on improving your sleep or your child’s sleep can feel like a big step. My goal is to make the process as clear, supportive, and collaborative as possible.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect:
We begin with a free 15-minute phone call. This gives you the opportunity to share your reasons for seeking services and ask any initial questions. I will also explain more about my approach and what working together would look like. I will always give you my honest opinion about whether I am the right fit for your needs. If I believe another provider or path would better serve you, I will tell you and will offer suggestions to help you find the right support.
Before our first appointment, I ask adult patients, parents of minor patients, and children or adolescents over the age of 8 to complete intake paperwork. This paperwork helps me gather important background information about your sleep concerns, overall health, and goals so we can make the most of our time together.
Your first session will be a 90-minute intake appointment, with an option to split the intake between two shorter sessions. During this time, I will ask detailed questions to better understand your concerns, your sleep history, and the goals you hope to achieve. If you are seeking services for your child, the intake will involve gathering information about your child’s sleep habits, development, and family routines.
Follow-up sessions are typically 50 minutes long. In these appointments, we will:
Review what you have worked on since the previous session
Discuss your progress toward your sleep goals
Introduce and practice evidence-based strategies to continue improving sleep
Sleep interventions are designed to be short-term and solution-focused. The number of sessions varies depending on your needs:
Parents of young children: Typically 1–4 sessions
School-aged children and adolescents: Typically 4–8 sessions
Adults: Typically 6–10 sessions
Throughout the process, we work at a pace that feels manageable and collaborative, always focused on building skills that support lasting improvements in sleep and well-being.
