About
About Dr. Donewar
As a sleep psychologist, I work with children, adolescents, and adults to help them find manageable solutions for sleep issues. Disrupted sleep affects us all, but making improvements to sleep is not as easy as it sounds. I collaborate closely with patients, or parents of younger patients, to provide personalized and manageable evidence-based interventions to improve their sleep.
Prior to starting my private practice, I worked at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and was an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I provided clinical services on multiple medical services in the hospital setting.
In addition to clinical activities, I served as both the manager for the pediatric health psychology group and the training director for the postdoctoral fellowship program. In these roles, I taught and supervised graduate students, interns, and postdoctoral fellows and mentored junior faculty. I have also been active in conducting research and have published book chapters and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles.
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of North Carolina.

My approach
I use a warm, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to evaluate sleep concerns as well as provide individualized recommendations and solution-focused interventions. I will learn about you and/or your child's unique strengths and needs, teach you about how sleep works, and together, we will develop a manageable plan to improve sleep.
With my background in academia, I highly value evidence-based practice, collaboration with medical providers, and the use of current research to inform clinical decision making.
